Folk Dancing!

Hello, I am reaching out to share information about a community dance program in the Twin Cities that may be of interest to your members. I recently started a monthly Community Folk Dance Night at the Center for Performing Arts in Minneapolis. The evenings feature participatory international folk dances in a welcoming, community-oriented atmosphere, with dances chosen so people of all experience levels can comfortably join in. Because many music educators incorporate folk dance, cultural traditions, and participatory movement into their classrooms, I thought this might be a meaningful opportunity for educators, students, families, and community members interested in experiencing folk dance in a social setting outside the classroom. The dances draw from traditions around the world and emphasize connection, music, and shared participation rather than performance. We meet on the third Thursday of each month from 6:30–8:00pm. If this seems appropriate for your newsletter or member communications, I would be very grateful if you would consider sharing it with your community. I would also be happy to provide additional information or a short blurb if helpful. Here is the event information: https://facebook.com/events/1430003342014424 Thank you for the work you do to support music education and community arts. Warmly, Caren Grantz Keljik Twin Cities Folk Dance Village
